What is Xero?

What you need to know
- We recommend you set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) to protect your Xero account. If you’ve set up MFA, you need to complete additional authentication steps when you log in to Xero.
- You use the same login details for Xero, Xero Central and Xero’s mobile apps. If you log in to Xero or Xero Central, you’re automatically logged in to the other, as long as you use the same browser for both. Similarly, when you log out of one, Xero also logs you out of the other.
- Although you use the same login details for our mobile apps, you also need to have the relevant permissions for each app. For example, if you only have Xero Expenses or Xero Me permissions, you can’t log in to the Xero Accounting app, and vice versa.
- You can view articles in Xero Central without logging in, but to post in discussions or raise a case with Xero support you need to log in.
How To Login
- To log in to Xero, go to the Xero login screen.To log in to Xero Central, click Log in at the top of any Xero Central page.
- Enter your email address and password, then click Log in.
- If you use MFA, follow the steps in Xero to authenticate your login.

Accessing Xero from Mobile Devices
In addition to desktop access, Xero offers a mobile application that allows users to manage their accounts on-the-go. The mobile app provides similar functionality as the desktop version but requires its own unique login process.
Downloading the Mobile App
- Visit the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android).
- Search for “Xero Accounting” and download the app.
- Open the app after installation.
Logging Into Your Mobile Account
To log into your Xero account via mobile:
- Open the app.
- Enter your registered email address and password.
- If 2FA is enabled, input the verification code sent to your device.
